The Real 12 Days of Christmas

In the 16th century, England proclaimed
an official state church,
any other religious teaching was strictly forbidden.
So, for the next three centuries,
those who refused to join the state church
developed creative ways to teach
their children the truth of the Bible.
One popular method was lyrics and song.

Discover the 'hidden' symbols in the familiar carol
'12 Days of Christmas'
where 'My True Love' refers to God!

Here are slides adapted from Helen Haidles beloved book,
'The Real 12 Day of Christmas',
One of my favorite books to read to my kids this time of year.

Missionary story time

My favorite part of Good News Club is the missionary story.
It's been my privilege to get to tell it the past few weeks.
One problem I have with the visuals is,
the story is separate and it is hard to wrangle
the visuals and the  story pages.

So this is my simple fix.

I photocopied  the  story pages, cut the section for each visual,
taped them to strip of card stock and
paper clipped them to the spine of the visual book.
Now I just flip the card stock as I turn the visual  page.

The story is 'No Darkness at all' an adaptation of
Patricia March St John's   'Star of Light '.

Botany Lesson - Photosynthesis

I was looking for a fun visual activity to emphasize photosynthesis for students in our 'Rainbow Garden' botany class.
I found this neat idea .
But I thought I'd make it tastier.

So we have carbon atoms=blue, oxygen atoms=purple and hydrogen atoms=green

To make 6 water molecules and 6 carbon dioxide molecules.

They go into our green shamrock 'leaf' and we add some 'sun energy'.

Our plant makes....

...glucose and leaves us OXYGEN!!!

My students loved this activity!
It was fun to watch and listen as they made the glucose 'recipe'.
"Oh no, I did something wrong, I have extra."
and
"Hey, that's the oxygen they give us!!"

'Lightbulb' moments, it's what teaching is all about!

The grass withers and the flower fades but the word of our God will stand forever.

Who Love You Good News Party Club

Lots of fun planned for today's Party Club.
'Who Loves You? is our theme.

A song we always sing in the fall, (because the visual is very fall themed)
is 'Who Loves You?'
I made a new visual to fit our theme better.

'Who, who, who loves you?
Jesus, He's the One.
Who, who died for you?
Jesus, God's own Son.
who, who will take you
to His home above?
Jesus Christ my Lord and King
He's the one I love!'

Cassia made Chocolate  cupcakes with berry buttercream frosting

I made loads of heart pizzas.
Oops I missed a heart. LOL

Our Brazillian missionary friends Marcos and Telma and their 4 precious boys will join us.
And we have 40 'Who Loves You' owl craft kits.

God loves us soooooooo much!!
I'm sooo happy to share that love!!
